Hello! My name is Kathryne LeFevre, and I’m the Director of the Learning Commons, which includes the library, tutoring services, and study spaces. I earned my Associate of Arts degree from Elizabethtown Community College, now known as ECTC. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. I have twenty+ years of experience working in the academic librarian profession. I’ve been a librarian at SKYCTC since 2013 and the Learning Commons Director since 2020. I’m a Tía to two nephews, two nieces, one great-nephew and a great-niece due next month. I have two adorable cats, Benny & Molly. I like to read, write, and knit in my free time.
My name is Esther French, and I’m an Instruction librarian in the Learning Commons. I help classes with research assignments get started on their projects. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Language Arts from WKU, a Master of Library & Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi, and in 2019 received a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a TESOL Concentration from WKU. I have been at SKYCTC for 10 years now, and I also worked previously at WKU and at Hazard Community & Technical College. Outside of the Learning Commons I also run a Teatime Tuesdays to promote conversation with English-language learners, or any SKYCTC student, on Tuesdays at 3:00 PM in the Grove Cafe. I am a co-advisor for the SKY Creative Writers club for any students interested in creative writing!
My name is Ryan Dowell and I am a reference and e-resources librarian in the SKYCTC Learning Commons. I help SKY students with their research assignments one-on-one, I help develop our library collection and manage our digital resources that students use, and I also teach FYE. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science with a minor in German language in 2012, before earning my Master of Science in Library Science from the University of Kentucky in 2016. I worked at WKU before coming to SKYCTC and have been here now for almost 8 years! In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, gardening and the outdoors, and playing board games! I am actually the faculty co-advisor for the SKYCTC Game Club so email me if you are interested in joining our club!
