Yoga Resources: Getting Started

This guide provides resources about yoga.

Yoga Resources

Yoga is an ancient practice that comes from India which combines asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and (dyana) mediation. Hatha Yoga is the most popular type of yoga that is practiced in the United States. However, there are many other styles of yoga styles such as Vinyasa, Jivamukti, Kundalini, Bikram, Yin, and Bhakti.

According to the National Institutes of Health  and John Hopkins Medicine a daily yoga practice can benefit you in the following ways:

  • Helps manage stress
  • Supports mental and emotional health
  • Elevates your mood
  • Connects you to a supportive community
  • Improves strength, balance, and flexibility
  • Helps with back pain
