The Computer Science of Quilt Designs
When it comes to the art of quilting, determining the feasibility and order of steps in advanced patterns can be notoriously complicated – and frustrating. By automating that process, a new algorithm enables quilters to focus on design and creation.
Quilts in the Appalachian Artifacts Collection at Berea College
This guide is based on the Digital Library of Appalachia quilt documentation project of 2005. Student Curatorial Associate Brittney Westbrook selected the quilts, compiled the information, and photographed the quilts. Student Curatorial Associate Travis Rigg edited and produced this guide in 2013. These quilts also have full catalog records in Berea Digital and the Digital Library of Appalachia. Student Curatorial Associate Kathryn Dunn completed additional editing in 2015.
Design a Quilt Garden

not add an art element to your gardening project by creating patterns out of the vege‐
tables you’re growing. The tapestry of lettuces—shades of green and red, lobed, oak
leaf, and frilly—make a great palette for designing a garden as beautiful as it is tasty.
